Hair restoration has come of age in our country with the inception of AHRS-India. Indeed, when the demand for such surgery is touching stratosphere it is only natural that a group of interested surgeons create a forum for selective peer interaction and recognition. I am sure your cluster will bring glory to AHRS just as it crowns glory on the pate!
I wish all success to AHRS-India and your forthcoming inaugural conference. Rajeev B. Ahuja

The hair are very important part of personality and hair loss leads to diminished self esteem and depression. Restoration of hair is very important as medical therapy has its limitation. I am happy to know that a group of doctors interested in this subspecialty have formed a new “Association of Hair Restoration Surgery( India).
I wish it a grand success.

“Congratulations! The International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) is very pleased to support the newly formed Indian Association of Hair Restoration Surgeons. |

The Indian members of the ISHRS have been our valuable friends and colleagues. With the recent rapid development in the understanding of hair disorders and also of our surgical techniques, it is an opportune time to create your National Society, Association of Hair Restoration Surgeons (AHRS-India). It is my understanding that the current 20 members are expected to grow to nearly 50 members by the end of 2009 and that the first Annual Meeting will be held this December at Ahmedabad, India. |
AHRS-India already has a seat on the ISHRS Global Council, an association dedicated to the worldwide co-ordination of educational activities and in providing mutual support in these endeavors. The ISHRS congratulates the founders of this exciting new Society and looks forward to working with its members in order to enhance hair restoration internationally.
Best wishes also to the first President, Dr. Sanjiv Vasa.” |

My very sincere CONGRATULATIONSto the newly formed Association of Hair Restoration Surgeons – India! One of my chief goals as President of the ISHRS from 2006 -2007 and currently, in my position of Chair of the Continuing Medical Education Committee for the ISHRS, is to seek out, and support new educational avenues around the world that would allow hair restoration education to be brought to local physicians, that may not otherwise be able to travel great distances. |

India is a beautiful, big country whose time has come, under the leadership and vision of the founding members of the Association of Hair Restoration Surgeons – India , (AHRS-India), to create a national society to bring the physicians of India together to share their knowledge so that their patients may all benefit from the great work that is being performed today. As a founding member of the Canadian Association of Hair Restoration Surgeons I can appreciate what an exciting time this can be.
The ISHRS, thanks to its full roster of active and participating international members, has a wealth of expertise and resources that it would like to share with the AHRS-India, to help support your society, just as many of our Indian friends have been so kind as to support the ISHRS over the years.
The ISHRS looks forward to collaborating with Dr. Sanjiv Vasa and the rest of the Governing Council and to wish them their every success!

| I was delighted to learn that there is now an Association of Hair Restoration Surgeons in the World's biggest democracy. |
Indian patients have always been numerous amongst our patients in the West so we always knew that there would be a significant market for hair restoration in your country.

Now that you have formed the AHRS your next important task is to increase and maintain technical standards within your country. This can be done by having scientific meetings within your country and demonstrating to doctors and the public the advanced techniques and results that are now possible. There is nothing to be gained and everything to lose by keeping these techniques secret amongst a few elite practitioners. There should be plenty of work for all of you if your members can do good work and gain the confidence of the public. |

I am pleased to learn of your newly constituted society and, as President of the ISHR and on behalf of our Directive Council, I congratulate you for the achievement.

| I am sure that both our great societies shall forge a strong bond of friendship together, borne out of regular exchange of knowledge regarding technical and scientific skills and improving patient satisfaction. |
Most of all, I have always believed, that friendship is the cornerstone of every co-operation. I have never been to India before and HAIRCON-2009 will be a wonderful occasion to do so. |

Hair restoration surgery was born in Asia, but nurtured in the West. With such national societies like the AHRS-India, we could bring back the glory to Asia. |
| |
By forming AHRS you have all opened the door to many of your country men who are seeking advice and treatment from the right hands. I would like to congratulate all the founder members of AHRS for coming together as the National Hair Restoration Surgeons Society of India. |

I wish you all success.

Hair restoration is one of the most exciting and challenging surgical field which has evolved over past 10 years. Hope this meeting would give a great opportunity to share the experiences and knowledge of all hair surgeons in the world. |

Since the first experimental demonstration that it was possible to transplant hair from a hair-bearing to a non-hair-bearing area in 1822 by German medical student Dieffenbach, hair transplantation surgery has successfully developed to a means of definitely treating male pattern baldness. |
Dieffenbach experimented on himself, poking holes in his arm and then inserting hair follicles from his head by the use of goose quills as trephines to bore out hair-bearing pieces of skin. In 1939, Japanese dermatologist Okuda developed a circular scalpel for the purpose of transplanting hair into areas of alopecia, but his efforts did not receive the deserved attention at the time. |
It was not until the 1950s that the modern era of hair transplantation was ushered, when New York dermatologist Orentreich demonstrated "donor dominance" of the hair transplant. For the following decades, dedicated surgeons all over the globe have worked on refining the method with today close to natural results in a range of indications that go well beyond male pattern baldness. Worldwide, an international community of hair transplantation professionals have begun to organize into societies to advance the science and artistry of hair restoration, to promote excellence, continuing education and quality improvement in the field of hair restoration surgery, and to ensure friendly relations among its members and sister societies.
In the name of the European Hair Research Society (EHRS) I congratulate the founders of the new AHRS-India with my best wishes for success in reaching its high aims. Prof. Ralph M. Trüeb, M.D.

Dear Members of AHRS-India, |
It was extremely hearening and a step in the right direction that the largest Asian Group has been formed in the field of Hair Restoration Surgery.
The AHRS of India is the frontrunner organization from which all of us take inspiration.
We can now look forward to realizing the cherished dream of an Asian Society which now seems possible. |
